Plenty More International Stars on the Way
Over the course of the past 19 years, Müpa Budapest has hosted nearly all of the world’s major orchestras and conductors. Our 20th-anniversary season will not prove lacking in this regard either. Those coming in quick succession to take the baton and the stage together include Riccardo Chailly and the Filarmonica della Scala, Andris Nelsons and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Thomas Adès and the Vienna Philharmonic, William Christie and Les Arts Florissants, Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Jordi Savall and his ensembles, not to mention Joyce DiDonato with Il Pomo d’Oro.
In addition to this formidable programme of classical music, 2025 will also feature a number of other genres. The Oslo Jazz Ensemble is coming to accompany Maria Schneider, as are Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci and Brian Blade to pay tribute to Wayne Shorter. The Jazz Spring series this year places the spotlight on the trumpet, while Jazz Showcase will once again turn over the stage to upcoming talents during the day, with established jazz artists taking over in the evening. IAMYANK bring their new album, and Budapest Bár the classic atmosphere of old-time Pest, with the Hey, June! concerts once again opening the summer.
The Müpa Film Club will continue to celebrate 110 years of Hungarian animation, with the Literarium series introducing viewers to more of the very finest contemporary literature, who can also look forward to the return of our popular dance productions and youth programmes.
