HUNCLORIQUE
Boggie & Petruska
11 June 2025, Wednesday
8 pm - 9:50 pm
Festival Theatre
Produced by Müpa Budapest
Hey, June!
vocals Boglárka Csemer
vocals, guitar András Petruska

The popular songwriter and performer Boggie, who is a key figure on the Hungarian artpop scene and sings in three languages, first performed with the virtuoso guitar-playing talent Petruska in 2023, when they represented Hungary at a festival in South Korea. This marked the beginning of their joint production. The show’s organising force comes from the performers’ love of Hungarian folk music – though the pair are equally at home in a wide array of genres. With a selection of the most beautiful Hungarian love ballads and laments, Boggie and Petruska draw on their considerable musical abilities to present the uniqueness of Hungarian folk music motifs and melodies. The song collection is constructed from Petruska’s distinctive guitar playing – featuring virtuoso elements and a puritan fingerstyle – and the employment of twin vocals, so common in folk music, which are simultaneously dramatic, human and evocative. “We believe this urban interpretation can open the door to Hungarian culture for many people,” the performers have stated.
