Tibor Bánóczki, Sarolta Szabó: White Plastic Sky (Műanyag égbolt, 2023)
110 years of Hungarian animation
26 May 2025, Monday
7 pm - 11 pm
Auditorium
Produced by Müpa Budapest
MÜPA FILM CLUB

Featuring:

host Anna Ida Orosz

Special guests:

Judit Czakó, Levente Sipos

Even in the genre of animated films, it is rare to find a Hungarian production that does not seek to evoke a past full of legends, or to present a picture of the vices of the present, but instead paints the future. White Plastic Sky brings us 100 years forward in time: enough to ensue that the habits and customs are no longer recognisable, though the locations are. Spoiler: this image of the future is less than enticing. Lake Balaton has dried out, a natural disaster has reshaped the face of the country, and though Budapest is still Budapest, it has come at the cost of many lives. As for those who have survived the global apocalypse, will they also be able to live, too?
The film club’s specially invited guests are Judit Czakó, the editor and Levente Sipos, the compositing supervisor of the film.

In Hungarian, without subtitles

The discussions before and after the screening will be conducted in Hungarian.
