The number of exceptionally talented artists who have performed on the stages of Müpa Budapest and also collaborated with Prince is scarcely believable. The trumpet player, composer and arranger Philip Lassiter was the string section leader and orchestrator for New Power Generation from 2010. Lassiter is the proud owner of no less than 11 Grammy Awards, though his outstanding skills as a performer, songwriter and arranger have also shone through in his work alongside Ariana Grande, Anderson Paak, Snarky Puppy and Queen Latifah. While Lassiter just missed Candy Dulfer during the Prince era, the duo have been playing music together ever since he moved to Amsterdam. Lassiter is equally devoted to funk, gospel, jazz and soul. We can expect him to create a party atmosphere at the opening concert of the Jazz Spring, though we won't want for sophisticated instrument solos, either!
