The Seasons, Hob. XXI:3 – oratorio
Always an eagerly awaited event, Müpa Budapest’s next New Year’s concert, ringing in 2025, promises to be especially so. Ádám Fischer, the permanent conductor of the annual event, will take the podium to present Haydn’s The Seasons, which is heard much less frequently at Müpa Budapest than the composer’s other great oratorio, The Creation. Appearing as special guests this time will be the legendary workshop of historically informed performance Concentus Musicus Wien, Nikolaus Harnoncourt’s former ensemble. The members of the Hungarian Radio Choir are highly experienced interpreters of the piece, and joining them as soloists will be such outstanding singers as Emőke Baráth, Uwe Stickert and Miklós Sebestyén.
