Wayne Shorter made his name as a musician in the legendary era of jazz history, before also developing into a true legend himself. Shorter created timeless work at every stage in his career as both a composer and saxophonist. Arguably the peak of his musical journey, however, came with his quartet alongside Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci and Brian Blade. Across 21 years, Shorter’s group won two Grammy Awards and performed countless highly acclaimed concerts (including two at Müpa Budapest), surpassing all earlier feats and breaking down every existing barrier in their interpretation of jazz. Shorter’s former bandmates will nurture the legacy of their mentor as they perform his unforgettable compositions with the help of the Grammy-nominated saxophonist, band leader and composer Ravi Coltrane.
