Another classical music event that Müpa Budapest is also presenting in a shorter version as a family concert, with the evening programme condensed into a single hour, adapted to the needs of the young audience. It was in March 2006 when Vincent Dumestre’s ensemble Le Poème Harmonique first visited Müpa Budapest with a highly successful performance of Molière and Lully’s Le Bourgeois gentilhomme. In 2016, joined by Capella Cracoviensis, they brought a programme of music by Lully and Charpentier to our Early Music Festival. Their Le Carnaval Baroque show at the Festival Theatre in February 2012 proved a true sensation – the Hungarian audience’s first chance to see a performance of Baroque music combined with elements of contemporary circus. This production of theirs has now been winning over audiences around the world for the past twelve years. Since renewed, this work of total art is now returning to Budapest.
