Budapest Wagner Days 2027

Wagner Days, now for the 22nd time! In June 2027, the composer’s universe will be laid out before us on seven occasions at Müpa Budapest. One of the sensations of this year’s festival is the return – after a long absence – of Balázs Kovalik’s production of the monumental original version of Der Fliegende Holländer, performed in three acts but as a single part. The title role in the three performances will be sung by the splendid German baritone Michael Volle. Martin Rajna, co-artistic director of the Wagner Days, will conduct a festival production for the first time here. The passionate story of Tristan and Isolde, directed by Cesare Lievi, offers excellent opportunities for the American tenor Corby Welch and the Swedish soprano Elisabet Strid in the title roles to show just what they can do. The conductor of the amorous drama, which will be performed twice, is the festival’s founding artistic director, Ádám Fischer. The Artist of the Season, bass-baritone Gábor Bretz, will perform popular arias, while one of today’s greatest Wagner singers, the Swedish dramatic soprano Nina Stemme, will interpret songs by Liszt and Wagner with Roland Pöntinen at the piano.

Pre-purchasing for the 2027 season of the Budapest Wagner Days will begin at the platinum level on 3 June at 10 am, at the gold level on the 4 June at 10 am, at the silver level on the 4 June at 2 pm. Basic level cardholders and members of the general public will get the opportunity to purchase tickets and season tickets at Müpa Budapest's ticket office and online from 10 am on 5 June.
