Rite of Spring – version written by the composer for four hands
This joint concert by the world-famous French organist and long-time Hungarian audience favourite Olivier Latry and his Korean-born wife and fellow organist Shin-Young Lee will bring the two musicians to the console both separately and together in a programme featuring Bach’s Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor followed by two compositions most frequently performed in their orchestral versions: Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances and Stravinsky’s ballet The Rite of Spring. Promising to make this live organ music an extraordinary experience is the ballet production it will be paired with courtesy of Mozambican choreographer Idio Chichava, American choreographer Jobel Medina and them French counterpart Benjamin Millepied.
This performance is taking place as a collaboration between Müpa Budapest and the Philharmonie de Paris, with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels.
