Gallery Concerts
Müpa Budapest’s Gallery Concerts series not only offers you the chance to experience the unique sound of what is considered one of the world’s finest concert hall organs, it will also allow you to see the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall – literally – in a completely different light. The other unique feature about our approximately one-hour organ concerts is that visitors watch them exclusively from the galleries.
Because we will be lowering the acoustic panel (canopy) that is ordinarily only visible suspended from the ceiling of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall – covering the upper part of the organ – all the way to the ground floor and suffusing the space in mysterious, yet spectacular light as our visitors take their seats on the same level as the organ. These alterations will make the events a much more direct acoustic and visual experience than usual, ones featuring both familiar organ hits and truly special delicacies alike.
Introducing themselves at the Gallery Concerts will be two representatives of the new generation of organists, Zoltán Herczeg and Zita Nauratyill, as they present to the audience the pieces of classical music they would take with them to a deserted island. In addition to the classical organ recitals, our series Gallery Concert - Film Soundtracks on the Organ will bring us Csaba Tasi and János Túri-Nagy to perform excerpts from the music that accompanied some of our pivotal cinematic experiences of recent times!
