Now in its 20th year, the Müpa Budapest story continues with a new crop of internationally renowned performers
The second half of 2025, our anniversary year, brings us another lavish selection of stars. Taking the stage day after day will be the very best acts five continents – from Europe and South America to Africa and Asia – have to offer. The top artists and massive international stars slated for the autumn include Antonio Pappano and the London Symphony Orchestra, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Lahav Shani and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and, visiting us for the first time, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, not to mention Anna Vinnitskaya and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Sebastian Weigle and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as others such as Anna Lapwood, the Royal Albert Hall’s resident organist, Jonathan Tetelman and Carolina López Moreno, and even Jung Jae-il, the young Korean composer behind the scores for the Oscar-winning film Parasite and Squid Game.
We have special events in store for fans of lighter genres as well: returning for another visit will be the wonderful Diana Krall, and we will also get to experience the deeply moving voice of ganavya and share in an intimate concert by José González, while the performance by the 89-year-old Brazilian Hermeto Pascoal, a living legend of Latin jazz, promises to be an extraordinary experience. The artist of the 2025/26 season is the Icelandic piano virtuoso Víkingur Ólafsson, with the distinction of ensemble of the season going to the 30-year-old Söndörgő. Both will enchant the Müpa Budapest audience over the course of several performances.
Our regular festivals and popular series are going ahead at full steam as usual. JazzTime has no lesser names than Lisa Fischer, Morgan James and the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band on the schedule, while the Rising Stars programme this time features a young Hungarian luminary. The Müpa Filmclub is getting ready to showcase music in cinema, and the Literarium nights focusing on the written word have some true delicacies in store – and the same is true of our new dance productions.
As in previous years, cardholders of the Müpa+ membership programme will get first crack at purchasing tickets for the newly announced shows. Sales open for Platinum level members on 9 April, Gold level members on 10 April, and Silver level members on 11 April, in each case at 10 am. Let’s keep on making history together!
