Jazz Spring

On the occasion of the 23rd Jazz Spring, Müpa Budapest is inviting its audience to come out and play, and to find out what avenues the ladies of jazz are exploring.
Anyone curious to learn which saxophonist Jamie Cullum regards as one of his most talented young compatriots needs to check out the concert by Emma Rawicz’s sextet on 19 May. Rawicz is only 25, yet she is already a big hit across the Channel. This will be the last chance to see her production entitled INKYRA.
The following day’s concert by the enchanting singer Emma Smith, also from Britain, promises another rare treat. She will be accompanied by the trio of the excellent Italian pianist, Francesca Tandoi – their joint tours are truly something special. Her vibrant stage presence and sparkling voice have attracted the attention of the likes of Michael Bublé, Quincy Jones and Postmodern Jukebox.
At the festival’s closing concert in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall on 23 May, those present will discover how one of the most authentic exponents of bossa nova, the Brazilian-born pianist-singer, Eliane Elias brings to life the melodies of Antonio Carlos Jobim – born 100 years ago – with her accomplished colleagues.
