Fran Palermo’s music fuses exciting variety with perpetual completeness. The band blends rock, folk and indie sentiments with brass, guitars, keyboards and the right kind of rhythm to cook up something you simply cannot fail to like. They play proper dance music, which they will be presenting in a special form for the velvet chairs of Müpa Budapest. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t tap out a rock and roll beat with your feet under your chair.
The man on the street will have first encountered the group at its rehearsals in Budapest's Paris Courtyard. Their first studio recording, Arizona, was released in late 2011, followed by the EPs Museum of Clouds (2012) and Natural Cash (2013). The band took a creative break in 2013, before making their third EP Sun in Splendour, the tropic-jungle-rock forerunner to Fran Palermo’s eponymous first full-length album, released in May 2015.
Since then, they have been making a name for themselves by playing all the most important festivals. Then, exactly a year after their début album, they released Razzle Dazzle, full of more diverse and colourful tunes.
“It never occurred to me that I would get the chance to play a concert at Müpa Budapest with my friends. When we found out about it a little while ago, the news really got our imaginations going. We will try to get the very best out of our songs; we’d really like it if they sounded even better than on our records, and better than any of our other concerts to date.” (Henri Gonzo)
