Hey, June!
4-10 May 2026
For some, summer begins with the first scoop of ice cream; for others, it’s the arrival of light summer dresses. But those who regard earworms as a blessing and headphones as an essential accessory know full well that June chiefly marks the start of festival season – and this year, too, the starting gun is Müpa Budapest’s mini-festival, Hey, June!, running from 4 to 10 June.
This year’s concert series opens with Magashegyi Underground, a band that has dominated the Hungarian alternative scene for two decades, ably guiding the audience to the borderlands between ancient Csángó culture and 21st-century music. Gyuris entered public consciousness as the voice of the trap generation, yet with his new album and concert on 7 June, he ventures into fresh musical worlds where hip-hop, classical piano, and atmospheric soundscapes all play equally vital roles. Those attending Indigo’s evening on 8 June will also witness a major transformation. The singer-songwriter will bid farewell on stage to the earlier stages of his career and his previous explorations, opening the door to an entirely new musical universe. The chameleon of the Hungarian music scene, Frenk arrives with a new album; his concert on 9 June promises exciting surprises for fans of rock, pop, funk, chansons, classical music, and jazz alike. The festival concludes on 10 June with Anima Sound System, living legends of Hungarian electronic music, who will perform their album Hungarian Astronaut – released 30 years ago this year – alongside some brand-new compositions.
