Félix Lajkó Marathon
The Grand Masters of Improvisation
27 February 2015 Friday
7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Béla Bartók National Concert Hall

Featuring:

piano János Balázs
tombak Mohammad Reza Mortazavi (Iran)

Félix Lajkó has always been one of those musicians with the extraordinary ability to connect with the soul and to use his instrument as a conduit between himself and the outside world. No matter what challenge he takes on or who joins him on the stage, the result is always crystal clear: instinctive and visceral music from the soul, fed by some deep, unknown force. The violinist's musical realm constitutes its own genre, one he is able to align with virtually any similarly demanding form of music with remarkable sensitivity and feeling. Now all that remains as the crowning moment of his concerts both inside and outside of Hungary is the Félix Lajkó Marathon, a series of four concerts over the course of two days in honour of his 40th birthday. On this special occasion, he will display, resolve and reintroduce those musical ideas that have been his lifeblood over the years – with the aid of illustrious colleagues and collaborators past, present and future.
