We're broadcasting this performance live!
In spite of the fact that the current extraordinary situation prevents us all from meeting at Müpa Budapest in person, we would still like to make the coming days nicer and more uplifting. This is why we are going to transmit our live performance, without an audience, on our website and YouTube channel.
The performance will be broadcasted on our website and YouTube channel.
Although the coronavirus has prevented the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the soprano Miah Persson and trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger from travelling to Budapest, at Müpa Budapest's request, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Eszter Zemlényi and Gábor Boldoczki have agreed to step in to perform two of the same works from the original programme, as well as to treat the audience watching the live broadcast of their concert to compositions similar to the other ones that would have been played. The watchword: value and variability.
Telemann's concert sonata in D major is a chance for listeners to bathe in the light and serenity of the sound of the trumpet - while Bach's cantata Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen, in which the trumpet reappears as a companion to the soprano, is marked by a similar energy. Beethoven's intimately beautiful and eloquently melodious Cavatina guides one into the profound world of the composer's late string quartets. The ode that Handel composed for the birthday of Queen Anne will be a resumption of the sound of solemn joy, while the composer's second composition of the evening, the Concerto Grosso in B-flat major closing the concert, is an exceptional masterpiece of elegance, polish and triumphant diversity. Founded by János Rolla and his fellow musicians in 1963, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra was rejuvenated some years ago and is now enjoying another golden age under the leadership of concertmaster Péter Tfirst and artistic director István Várdai. Eszter Zemlényi, a member of the newest generation of singers at the Hungarian State Opera, has enjoyed outstanding success with the genres of art songs and oratorios in addition to triumphing on the musical stage. Celebrated around the world and confidently at home in every style, Gábor Boldoczki is one of the brightest stars of the Hungarian trumpet school, a source of classic international players of the instrument, and a true virtuoso.
