United: Brass It Up!
10 January 2015, Saturday
7 pm - 9 pm
Festival Theatre
Produced by Müpa Budapest

At the Palace of Arts, even United sound different! The jazz-trained musicians previously displayed their improvisational chops in 2008 on the Festival Theatre stage, but this was not what they would call their final testament. Wishing to celebrate in suitable style their fifteenth anniversary (few bands in the pop music world can boast to have lasted this long with their initial ambitions intact), they would like to mix things up again: they will be playing their greatest hits joined by an eight-member wind ensemble to make them sound as they never have before. On this evening, the compositions, which are deeply rooted in funk, will sound out with their stylistic spirit greatly enhanced by the sound of the brass. In addition to such well-known and beloved classics as Keserű méz, Nincs ősz, nincs tél, Hófehér Jaguár, and Tegnap még más voltál, which was a finalist in Hungary's Eurovision 2013 preliminaries, the band will also be providing its listeners with the gift of a new song on the occasion of its birthday.
Images projected on the background will enhance the experience even further. United's performance at the 2015 Jazz Showcase also carries a symbolic message, for the group first gained a national reputation when three of its founding members - vocalist Barna Pély, pianist Áron Romhányi and bassist Gergő Kolta - were still studying at the jazz department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Others may yet follow!
