For 11 years, Subscribe has been the leading band on the Hungarian rock-metal scene. Tours abroad and big international festivals at home have gained the band a name beyond the country’s borders, and these days no Hungarian rock music festival can pass by without them. Besides its popular success, Subscribe has also been highly acclaimed by critics, receiving the Fonogram Award in the modern rock category in 2008. Their music is a genuinely unique blend of hardcore metal with everything from jazz to folk music, funk and reggae. For this concert on the stage of the Palace of Arts, Subscribe has set itself the by no means simple task of proving that its members, several of whom graduated from the Kőbánya Music School, can do more than simply scream and make noise. They aim to show that the subtle style of playing suited to the Müpa stage is just as much part of their style as the usual intense and energetic performance of their earlier concerts. With this in mind, they are reworking all their songs for the evening to fit the particular instrumental requirements of a theatre stage. Compositions written for sometimes distorted electric guitar are thus transformed into intimate acoustic songs, some leaning towards pop, some supplemented with elements of salsa, jazz, funk, hip-hop or trip-hop. The seven-piece band will be joined for the evening by a guest wind section and strings, making Retuned the first big step in Subscribe’s metamorphosis… Presented by the Palace of Arts
