The Jazz Showcase is an opportunity to hear highly talented performers over several evenings. Rarely heard at home, László Gárdonyi has been a professor of the Berklee College of Music for three decades. His performing career has also been hugely successful and he regularly wows his audience both as a solo pianist and as part of the trio he founded in 2003. Even at the age of five, he improvised minor works on the piano, and was always receptive to the musical styles around him: classical music, pop, a progressive rock and blues all shaped his musical vocabulary, yet it was jazz that affected him most profoundly. He will be accompanied here by John Lockwood and Yoron Israel, who have been almost telepathic playing partners in music-making for 13 years now.
