Szabolcs Horváth Quartet:
The Szabolcs Horváth Quartet was formed by students of the Liszt Academy’s jazz department in 2022. Their repertoire includes both jazz standards and their own songs. The former, drawn from the legacies of Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker and others, are nevertheless performed in a unique way seasoned with characteristics typical of modern fusion jazz. Their original efforts – primarily by Szabolcs Horváth and Zsolt Vörös – are written in a wide variety of styles. This concert will feature Szabolcs’s piece ‘Zuzmó’, which was voted the best composition at the Fifth National Jazz Music Competition. After winning the Creative Art Award and the Talentum Hungaricum scholarship in 2023, Szabolcs also had his achievements recognised with the Young Jazz Talent of the Year professional award in 2024.
