Jazz talent exchange - Ineffable
28 January 2023, Saturday
5 pm - 6:15 pm
Festival Theatre
Produced by Müpa Budapest

The band Ineffable was formed by three music students at the István Nagy Art Secondary School in Miercurea Ciuc (Csíkszereda) in the summer of 2016, though the line-up reached its final form in 2017. The Müpa Budapest show will contain songs from their previously released albums Neon and New Dimension, which feature a wide array of styles. Their compositions creatively blend elements of jazz, soul, neo-soul, R&B, pop, hip-hop, trap and other progressive genres.

After conquering the region of Transylvannia, in January 2020 Ineffable made their first trip to Budapest, performing in front of a full house at the Budapest Jazz Club after an invitation from Lőrinc Barabás. In February they took part in the "PIM on the A38 Ship: Deck” show, where they performed as special guests of the jazz guitarist and composer Gábor Juhász. They also remained active during the global pandemic, releasing three music videos. In 2021, they finished in second place in the Budapest Fülesbagoly Talent Contest, from a total of 140 performers. In April 2022, they performed in Miercurea Ciuc alongside the four-time Grammy winner and Snarky Puppy pianist Bill Laurance, one of the most significant milestones in their career so far. After completing specialisations in jazz saxophone and the flute at the Béla Bartók Conservatory, Réka-Kata Regián has been studying jazz vocals there since 2021. Zsigmond Pál graduated from the Béla Bartók Conservatory with a specialisation in jazz piano. He is currently a third-year student in the classical piano department at the Liszt Academy and is spending this academic year as an Erasmus student at the Malmö Academy of Music. Tihamér Szereceán graduated in jazz bass guitar from the same institution in 2022, before becoming an audio design student at the United Pop Academy of Music and Arts. His brother, Osszián, graduated in percussion from the Géza Vámszer Folk Art School in Miercurea Ciuc, before enrolling in the piano department in 2021.
