Jazz Showcase

Now organised for the tenth year by Müpa Budapest, the Jazz Showcase is firmly established as the Central and Eastern Europe region's most important jazz talent exchange. Just as last year, the youngsters will be able to compare their skills before an invited international jury, who will judge them on their talent and innovative artistic vision. The productions deemed most original and exciting will be rewarded with further opportunities to perform thanks to collaborations between Müpa Budapest, the Hungarian Jazz Federation and a number of festivals. We also continue to value the opinions of the jazz fans in the audience: The audience prize-winner from performers on the three days will be invited back to perform at Müpa Budapest before too long.

Cintia Horváth started out studying classical voice before changing her focus to jazz. She founded her quintet in the autumn of 2015 with outstanding musicians studying together at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, where Cintia will graduate in 2017 with a degree in jazz voice performance, with her bandmates on saxophone and drums receiving diplomas along with her. Szabolc Várvölgyi graduated in 2016 and has led his own trio since 2012, in addition to playing in numerous other ensembles. Izsák Vidákovich also helps power Syrius Legacy and the Suba Attila SoulFool Band. Ábel Dénes is skilled at playing folk music in addition to jazz, while Benedek Kárpáti is also an active member of the Mihály Bazinka Quartet.
