Balázs Horváth Quartet:
Attesting to Balázs Horváth’s talent as a pianist are numerous awards and accomplishments, including two previous Jazz Showcase special prizes (as a member of the Tűzkő Salamon Quintet and the Noémi Nagy Quartet), a Junior Prima Award, making it to the finals of the Bob Ravenscroft International Jazz Piano Competition and, last but not least, performing for years as a regular member of Nikoletta Szőke’s band. On this occasion, the Jazz Showcase series will be bringing him to the stage with his own quartet, performing original compositions and insightful, sensitive arrangements of Hungarian folk songs. Dezső Lakatos Ablakos Scholarship-winning double bass and electric bass player Sándor Suke is increasingly sought after as an accompanist. Like drummer Mátyás Szigeti and singer Róza Hárs, he studies at the Liszt Academy here in Budapest.
