This will be the second time WOMEX, the largest event in world music has come to Budapest - or rather, Budapest will go to the world. Owing to the pandemic, the WOMEX events will be streamed this year; the live concerts in Hungary will be open to audiences.
The Friday programme is opened by Babra, a five-strong band that experiments with recasting the music of the Southern Slavs. They are followed by Dalinda, the trio of Fanni Nádasdy, Sára Tímár and Julianna Paár, who sing Hungarian folk songs without instrumental accompaniment. Both groups have been selected among the performers of WOMEX 2020's regional Danube Stage. Multi-award winning Parno Graszt will sweep their audience off their feet in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall.
This event of the CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival is jointly presented by Müpa Budapest and Hangvető.
