My Way

An explosion of energy at Müpa Budapest with the Pannon Philharmonic! Who wouldn't want to hum New York, New York or My Way along with Sinatra? Swing isn't just an intertwining of music and dance, but a timeless feeling of life: the rapturous pulsation of the performers and the audience together. Thanks to András Vass's exquisite arrangements, the energy of swing will be released from the bars to also be experienced at Müpa Budapest with a symphonic orchestra of nearly a hundred musicians. After the rousing success of its world première in Pécs and the ensuing encore concert, the Pannon Philharmonic will now present this new musical material of international interest in the capital together with Gábriel Farkas, Mónika "Nika” Veres and Bálint Magyar and under the baton of conductor Péter Illényi.

In the world of classical music, the Pannon Philharmonic has won the recognition of the audience with its guarantee of quality. No matter whether what they are playing is Baroque, classical, contemporary, opera or crossover, the sound of the music is paramount. This ensemble that regularly immerses itself in adventures into different genres at its home in Pécs will now also present its latest unique musical material in Budapest for the first time this year. "We got to witness an explosion of swing energy,” is how one member of the audience put it. András Vass can boast numerous orchestral arrangements that reveal a highly developed sense of style. The development of the musical material for the Sinatra concert was preceded by almost a year of preparation and required hundreds of hours of orchestration work. Thanks to his thorough understanding of style and the perfect acoustic harmony of symphonic, beat and big band sounds, the finally formed sound world gives the audience an experience that is unparalleled among its kind. The Sinatra Medley, a familiar work in the genre, is a credit to composer Balázs Alpár. Supplementing the Pannon Philharmonic's regular ranks for the performance will be some of the finest guest artists around, with the beat section joined by five saxophonists and a pianist.
