The Bach24 programme series offer a glimpse into the room where one of the greatest musical geniuses in history composed his works. Few others have understood the laws of how music operates better than Johann Sebastian Bach, whose counterpoint work continues to this day to provide an unsurpassable model to generations of composers. This exhibition put together by music historian Gergely Fazekas guides visitors through the world of fugues, canons and symmetrical musical structures and into the pure intellectual space of music steered by mathematical relationships. Aiding visitors to gain insights into the thinking of what may have been Europe's most influential composer will be a host of contemporary manuscripts, theoretical works, first-edition scores, illustrative diagrams and explanations and, naturally, passages of music.
