To mark the 20 years since the Müpa Budapest organ was inaugurated, this photo exhibition by Dániel Dömölky reveals the hidden faces of this monumental instrument from a unique perspective. The organ, which comprises thousands of pipes and towers to a height of several storeys, comes to life in the images not only as a musical instrument, but also as a space to be explored from within, allowing visitors to experience the magic of sound at its very source. This “building within a building” embodies both music history dating back more than 2000 years and the latest innovations: its mode of operation is ancient, yet its distinctive sound feels fresh on every occasion. The instrument connects artists from the most diverse musical genres with their audience, and its infinite possibilities invite play and discovery. This unique exhibition sheds new light on this timeless musical machine, even offering a glimpse into its inner workings.
