Organ20
25–26 April 2026
This year, Müpa’s now-traditional organ weekend offers the chance to explore the unparalleled possibilities hidden within the instrument, embark on a family-friendly organ expedition, enjoy a concert accompanying a silent film, encounter timeless classics, and discover a brand-new concerto receiving its world premiere. The exciting programme curated by László Fassang brings together a liberated, highly improvisatory trio production featuring György Kurtág Jr. and Vincent Lê Quang that pairs the organ with a saxophone and live electronics, a matinée concert inviting the audience to make friends with the “queen of instruments” through much-loved opera hits, the 1924 Buster Keaton masterpiece Sherlock Jr., accompanied live by Monika Melcová, and, for the closing concert, the Budapest debut of the exceptionally gifted young virtuoso Alexis Grizard. With the participation of the Danubia Orchestra, this distinguished debut will feature one of Liszt’s most important organ works, followed by the world premiere of Judit Varga’s organ concerto Végtelen zuhanás a bíbor égen át – a horizont elnyeli az időt (Endless Fall Through the Crimson Sky – The Horizon Swallows Time), which was commissioned by Müpa.
