Romeo: Gábor Nyári Juliet: Mónika Misáczi Tybalt: István Issovits Mercutio: Árpád Recskó Paris: Krisztián Kiss Juliet’s mother: Krisztina Loósz Juliet’s father: Márton Csöppüs Rabbi: István Verebes and the dancers of the Hungarian Festival Ballet Costume: Rita Velich Scenery: László Székely Music: Ferenc Jávori alias “Fegya”, and an Arabic musical montage Choreographer-director: Iván Markó Iván Markó, the Kossuth prize winner dancer and choreographer has dreamed up Shakespeare’s legendary love story to take place among the historical walls of the 21st century Jerusalem. The performance, which uses the elements of modern dance, Arabic and Jewish folklore, shows that the overwhelming power of human love triumphs over the devastating animosity based on religious and traditional conflicts. The images, scenery and costumes of the dance drama remind us of the spirituality and atmosphere of the Middle East. The music, which is based on traditional Jewish traditions and was composed by Ferenc Jávori alias “Fegya” for the Hungarian Festival Ballet, alternates with authentic Arabic music during the performance.
