Bach24
On 21 March, it will be 330 years since the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach. To mark the occasion, the Palace of Arts will stay on 24-hour “Bach duty.” Across 14 concerts from 10 pm on 20 March until 10 pm on 21 March, noted Hungarian and foreign organists will play Bach’s complete organ works according to a carefully structured thematic schedule. The base will naturally be provided by the organ of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall. The atmosphere will be more informal than usual at classical music concerts: at night visitors will be able to stretch out on the stage on bean bags while listening to the music, can come and go as they please and try out the acoustics from different positions in the auditorium. Additional programmes will spice up the event in the Glass Hall and the Foyer; for example, the Bach Lounge and Bach Workshop, while organ lessons will even be provided for those who wish to try out this wonderful instrument.
