The high-quality musical world of The Qualitons is predominantly rooted in two directions: soul/funk/groove and beat/psychedelic rock, a sound that has matured into an increasingly perfect harmony over the course of the band's 11-year history. These days, even American radio stations are going crazy for The Qualitons. At this one-off concert, their pulsating world of sound, which also leaves room for improvisation, will be embellished and oriented to the east with exotic instruments like the sitar, kaval and duduk, though of course the band will also be playing some tracks from their most recent album, which features superb covers of songs by the Hungarian band KEX.

The Qualitons were formed 14 years ago, in the late 2000s, from a group of outstanding musicians. They initially played a groovy, soul-funk-beat based sound, which they then courageously and increasingly experimentally expanded towards psychedelic rock. Their sweeping sound and engaging, wavering and soaring songs first caught the attention the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and then American radio stations (they have even performed live on the Seattle-based KEXP radio), and whatever they do has been met with significant and widespread acclaim. Most recently, they produced an inspired cover record as a tribute to KEX, an undeservedly neglected Hungarian band from the late 1960s and early 1970s. There has been no break since, of course. In addition to presenting fresh music with a progressive, intrepid direction, in this concert they will use musical instruments from a range of different cultures to take you on an Oriental adventure. Szabolcs Tóth on the sitar and Péter Bede on the saxophone, recorder, kaval and the duduk will join the quintet as special guests, as The Qualitons transport the audience on a truly exotic journey.
