The Corduroy Jazz Club Presents: the Carson Coma Ensemble
19 December 2022, Monday
7 pm - 8:45 pm
Béla Bartók National Concert Hall
Produced by Müpa Budapest

Perhaps the most dynamically developing Hungarian band of recent times, over the last four years Carson Coma have released three albums in quick succession and become one of the most popular groups in the country. The sextet's busiest year ever, 2022, will conclude with an unusual concert at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall. With the able assistance of the Budapest Orchestra Project's big band wind players, the band will perform their greatest hits in a brand new format.

The six-member Carson Coma were formed in 2018 and play 1960s Hungarian beat and dance music-inspired alternative rock with a humorous, upbeat message. Their very first album, the 2019 Corduroy Club LP, was a favourite of listeners and critics alike. Their music is also backed up by a striking visual look - it is no coincidence that they won the main prize at the Fourth Hungarian Music Video Festival. They haven't lacked for other awards either (a Fonogram Award in the Discovery of the Year category, the Nagy-Szín-Pad talent contest, and the 2022 Junior Artisjus Award), though their success is also evident in their sold-out concerts and tours. Their debut was followed in 2020 by their second album, Lesz, Ami Lesz (What Will Be, Will Be), which continued on from the sound of the first album in an even more elaborate and thrilling form, and has since gone platinum. Swept along by their own momentum, the band released their third LP, Digitális / Analóg (Digital / Analogue) in March 2022, which also went platinum. The group, who regularly sell out major venues in Hungary, will perform an unusual December concert at Müpa Budapest with the 11-member Budapest Orchestra Project: an orchestral set-up, brass instruments and a big band atmosphere - never before will we have seen Carson Coma quite like this.
