Punnany Massif – Punnany Acoustic 2.0
27 March 2024, Wednesday
8 pm - 10 pm
Béla Bartók National Concert Hall
Produced by Müpa Budapest

Hailing from Pécs, Punnany Massif have enjoyed a monumental journey in the 20 action-packed years since the band established from the initial pairing of two MCs, Máté Felcser (RendbenMan) and Roland Farkas (Wolfie) got together in 2003. By the 2010s, they had won the hearts of the Hungarian masses with their self-blended, trendsetting musical cocktail. Following their anniversary year in 2023, they are embarking on the Punnany Acoustic 2.0 tour in 2024, with the rousing finale set to be played at Müpa Budapest.

Punnany Massif’s exotic musical mixture combines hip-hop, funk, soul, electronica and folk music, and they are able to perform all this authentically as a live instrumental band even on some of Hungary’s largest stages. Punnany’s unique style of hip-pop, matured over the past 20 years or so, is surprisingly suited to a concert format where the instrumentalists take centre stage. But even though the show is called Acoustic 2.0, this will be no means be a quiet evening. “The word ‘acoustic’ doesn't mean we unplug every last electrical cord! This is Punnany’s more serious side in what will be – we hope – an entertaining format.” The concert will see more recent material (their latest album, Fel Nem, was released in the spring of 2023) and classic hits dressed up especially for the occasion: “For this concert, we are putting much greater emphasis on the virtuosity of our musicians than we would do on the main stage of a festival. It is important for us to pull off a concert that is both extraordinary and memorable – including for us – and that the audio manifestation of our ideas falls on receptive ears. Standing on the Müpa Budapest stage, or even sitting in the auditorium as a member of the audience, is somehow more celebratory and uplifting than it is in any other concert hall in the country, which is why we are sure that concert will make for a worthy closing chord on our Punnany Acoustic 2.0 tour.”
