Orsi Kozma: Meetings
16 September 2018, Sunday
6 pm - 8 pm
Festival Theatre
Produced by Müpa Budapest

Orsi Kozma's name appears in the line-ups of some of the finest Hungarian bands of the last 20 years. Kozma first gained national recognition as one of the 'three graces' of Jazz+Az. The Cotton Club Singers then hired her as a vocal virtuoso, while she has also appeared in various musicals, and for the last decade has played alongside the musicians of the Orsi Kosma Quartet.

Kozma is planning a veritable parade of stars for her appearance at Müpa Budapest, including Péter Novák and Krisztián Szakos, the creators of Jazz+Az László Dés, Dóri Behumi and Eszter Váczi, not to mention the Cotton Club Singers vocalists Gabi Szűcs and Gábor Fehér, as well as Adrienn Zsédenyi (Zséda), a previous member of the popular vocal ensemble who has forged a successful solo career.
"I'm very lucky, a lot of people have had a really big influence on me. Péter Novák - the crazy one - who I have to thank for his influence in terms of not only pop-rock and folk music, but also the theatre. I actually trained to be an actress and I appeared in quite a few musical productions. After one particularly annoying audition I had enough: I never wanted to act again. The power of words - I stopped right then and there. I've missed it ever since. There's also Jazz+Az, where Péter Geszti and László Dés really helped to get my career going, while Dóri and Eszter are good friends of mine to this day. The Cotton Club Singers - I didn't have a clue about swing music - opened up new paths before me. Then I started searching for my own path: I began writing songs. I found a creative partner in the songwriter Krisztián Szakos. We made three albums of experimental electro-pop (Egy szó; Az igazi szerep; Vulkán) together. We put a great team together: Gábor Cseke on the piano, Vikto Hárs on the bass guitar and Csaba Pusztai playing drums, plus me. One of the songs from our last album, Vízjel made it onto the MAHASZ List.” (Orsi Kozma)
