Magdi Bódy, the world-renowned and highly successful performer, returns for another concert at Müpa Budapest. She began her career in the Hungarian Radio Children's Choir, before becoming a founder member of the female singing group Mikrolied, who performed alongside the Hungarian band Generál, and then founding her own group, the Magdi Bódy Band. She held the Hungarian Female Singer of the Year award for several years in a row. She has won awards at many festivals, has a three-and-a-half octave vocal range and a unique delivery and style of movement. In this concert, Bódy will perform her most memorable songs from the last 50 years - both classic hits and her own compositions - with the help of some notable old musical friends.
Magdi Bódy's career began in the 1970s. From 1981, she lived in Canada and the United States for 15 years, first teaching at the Ottawa Conservatory of Music before running her own singing school in Toronto and New York in the 1990s. During that time, she also performed in prestigious concert halls in Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Moscow and Vienna. After a successful performance at Carnegie Hall, the singer, who has enjoyed a notable career both at home and abroad, featured on posters across five continents with the words "Biggest voice in the smallest BODY".
She has performed with such internationally renowned performers as the Buddy Rich Orchestra, Donovan, Nina Hagen, Tina Turner, Dizzy Gillespie, Michael Bolton, Cyndi Lauper, Chieli Minucci, Manfred Krug, Gerald Veasley, Lionel Cordew and Special EFX. Her first album was released in 1978, with a further 11 records appearing since. To this day, she tours in many countries around the world, and of course we can see and hear her regularly in Hungarian concert halls. Her 2002 album I Love New York featured a cover of the hit New York, New York, with world-famous musicians declaring her version of the song to be like no other. Of course, she will be performing this song too at Müpa Budapest.
