Magdi Bódy
27 November 2011 Sunday
7 pm - 9 pm
Festival Theatre

Magdi Bódy is equally comfortable in the worlds of jazz, musicals and pop, and has forged a successful singing career since she started out with the MRT Children's Choir. Her break came when she sang the role of Mary Magdalene in the Hungarian première of rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. Festival success and audience awards followed at home and abroad. Bódy spent a total of 15 years in Canada and the United States, where she performed with some of the top names in music, including the Buddy Rich Orchestra, Donovan, Nina Hagen, Dizzy Gillespie, Michael Bolton, Cyndi Lauper, Manfred Krug, Special EFX and Gerald Veasley. A unique singing style and improvisational technique rightfully put Magdi Bódy among the world's best-known and most successful performers. Bódy comes to the Palace of Arts to sing some of the finest jazz classics of the past 40 years, as well as unique reworkings of some of her own songs. She will be backed by her friends Emilió and the Four Fathers as she sings a capella versions of songs, while musical accompaniment will be provided by world-renowned pianist Béla Szakcsi Lakatos and Artisjus Award-winning bass guitarist József “Plútó” Horváth. The concert will be enlivened further by the digital “videoramas” of photographer János Eifert. Presented by: Palace of Arts
