Lóci Játszik
8 February 2018 Thursday
7 pm - 9:10 pm
Festival Theatre

In 2017, the sudden appearance of Lóci Játszik was perhaps one of the most intense debuts on the Hungarian popular music scene. Having won the "Newcomer of the Year” award at the Fonogram Gala, the group went on to perform at every major festival as winners of the Nagy-Szín-Pad talent competition, the definitive competition in festival circles. By its own definition, the band plays alternative pop music. They believe in simple, happy and catchy melodies, which are made even more exciting by the sentimentally ironic, but richly meaningful lyrics of Lóci Csorba. The eponymous frontman already found a positive reception as one man and his guitar. His music for the highly successful Hungarian independent film VAN valami furcsa és megmagyarázhatatlan (For Some Inexplicable Reason) proved a powerful fit, giving Lóci final confirmation that he should spread his wings further as part of a band. So it was that Lóci Játszik (Lóci Plays) came about.
This concert can be regarded as a milestone in the group's career. They have reached a new level, at the end of an era, and from now on their own demands on themselves are changing significantly. A yearning to prove themselves drives them to summarize what they have achieved so far in a worthy manner. The evening begins with the "one man and his guitar” combined with a stand-up performance, just as Lóci began his career. It is only then that Lóci Játszik comes together, joined later by the band from VAN, before strings complete the ensemble, allowing the audience to experience just what it means when Lóci Plays.
