Kiscsillag was initially formed as a hobby in spring 2005, when András Lovasi assembled a band for a rehearsal comprising former Kispál és a Borz drummer Gábor Brautigam (replaced by Ábel Mihalik in 2008), bass guitarist Rezső Ózdi and Gábor Leskovics. Practising in their spare time, they hit it off so well that eventually a group was born which has since given concerts and recorded as a serious hobby band. Tunes were accumulated until their release on an album in 2006, entitled Greatest Hits Vo...l. 1, since when they have become genuine hits on the alternative rock scene. Three years later a new album was released entitled Örökre szívembe zártalak (I Shut You in My Heart Forever). The band’s songs run a gamut of sounds from wild punk to lyrical, and it is this variety and playing for pleasure – the big advantage of a hobby band – that makes Kiscsillag’s music and performance so loose and successful. Although the unique voice and performing style of András Lovasi is one of the distinctive features of its sound, Lovasi is seeking a female singer for the band so that he can concentrate on playing guitar. The concert will welcome guests in the shape of keyboardist and long-time Lovasi collaborator Csaba Vedres (formerly of After Crying and Kairosz) and György Ferenczy, who joins on both harmonica and vocals for several songs. The group will significantly rework most of its songs for the concert, bringing acoustic instruments to the fore and hopefully demonstrating that a good song lends itself to a great many interpretations.
