Gábor Becze – double bass, guitar, Dániel Gryllus – recorder, zither, panpipes, clarinet, taragot, bagpipes, Vilmos Gryllus – cello, guitar, charango, koboz, Jewish harp, Balázs Radványi – mandolin, 12 string guitar, ukulele, cuatro, viola, kalimba Ever since they formed thirty seven years ago in 1969, the Kaláka group have meant exactly the same thing from one generation to the next, from one record to the next: masterpieces of Hungarian and international poetry set to music, mostly with folk instruments, to a level fitting with the quality of the verse. Their remarkable oeuvre embraces the work of such diverse masters as János Arany, Dezső Kosztolányi, Attila József, Sándor Kányádi, Lőrinc Szabó, Sándor Weöres, Robert Burns and François Villon, and they address all age groups and moods. So naturally, Kaláka’s repertoire has plenty suitable songs for a concert saying farewell to the old year: at 3 o’clock in the afternoon they will present their show Feeding the Birds which is for children, in the evening, it’s time for the parents and grandparents with their highly entertaining So long as they have their health.
