At the concert in the Banner Hall, we heard for the first time Miklós Borbély and the Márton Fenyvesi band, and this led to numerous engagements at Hungarian concert venues and festivals. And while we have seen András Dés, Mátyás Szandai and Szabolcs Oláh countless times in numerous formations, this was the first time that their trio performed before an audience at the Palace of Arts, where they performed András Dés’s compositions. Brand new experiments by young yet experienced musicians could be enjoyed at the showcase as well as younger performers, some still at college, who maybe were performing for the very first time. In January 2009, the Festival Theatre and Banner Hall will be filled again with a fresh dynamism. During this three-day series, jazz lovers and Europe’s most influential professionals as well as invited critics and producers can hear the best in up and coming Hungarian jazz from 16.00. At 20.00, as last year, leading senior Hungarian jazz musicians will show off the diversity of jazz. This time three keyboard artists will be giving a concert each in the Festival Theatre.
