Virtually ever since the foundation of International Jazz Day event series in 2011, Müpa Budapest has participated with a colourful and eclectic programme. One Müpa custom within this tradition is for the winners of the Jazz Showcase Jury Prize to be given the opportunity to play a concert on International Jazz Day. This year, the jury's favourite also won the Audience Prize too. They are Symbiosis 5, who will take to the stage at 5 pm. From 8 pm, the Klára Hajdu Quartet, formed 15 years ago, will present their favourite songs, some surprise tunes and three superb special guests.

Klára Hajdu, who has performed on the Müpa Budapest stage on several occasions with various different groups over the course of her career, is one of the pre-eminent singers on the Hungarian jazz scene, not to mention a recognised and much-loved songwriter, bandleader and teacher. Both her inimitable vocals and the sound of her distinctive quartet - which has seen several change in members since 2008 and is in a constant state of renewal - have become a genuine trademark. The quartet have released four albums to day, which have been met with huge acclaim from critics and the public alike. Each of their albums can be found in the record shops of Japan, and their songs have been played on radio stations from Europe to Mexico, with listeners regularly streaming their music from more than 30 countries. On this occasion, the quartet of outstanding performers will feature Mihály Borbély on saxophone, Kornél Fekete-Kovács on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Milán Szakonyi on guitar and special vocals, as together they bring their joint creations of recent years to life and turn back the wheels of time for one evening only.
