Guest:
Szerelem első vérig ("Love Till First Blood”), Nagy utazás ("Great Journey”), Vigyázz rám ("Take Care of Me”), Trio Stendhal, Jazz+Az, A dzsungel könyve ("The Jungle Book”), Valahol Európában ("Somewhere in Europe”), A Pál utcai fiúk ("The Paul Street Boys”), Férfi és nő ("Man and Woman”)… What could all these successful songs, ensembles, film and stage productions embracing all sorts of different genres possibly have in common? They are all linked by the involvement of Kossuth Prize-winning composer and performing artist László Dés, a musician whose multifaceted talents and inexhaustible inventiveness have yielded a plethora of popular songs, theatre and film music, as well as collaborations with various jazz groups.
With his songs getting radio airtime on a daily basis and his musicals still playing in theatres both in Hungary and abroad ever since they first opened, his unique saxophone sound is something that listeners to pop and rock music - not just jazz fans - have come to know and love over the decades. His oeuvre, both as a composer and a performer, encompasses more than 40 albums and six DVDs of original music of lasting value in the most diverse possible reaches of the arts.
With Dés occupied with composing new material - for The Paul Street Boys and A Streetcar Named Desire - over the past three years, it is only now his audience will finally get the live concert it has been keenly awaiting. Chiefly focusing on his pop songs, it will also feature some of his now-classic film music, as well as musical gems both new and old. Along with the new songs, he's sure to play Great Journey, Take Care of Me, Legyen úgy ("Let it Be”) as well as excerpts from the productions Man and Woman and Átutazó ("Travelling Through”).
Dés has a lot of surprises in store for this concert, which will feature some extraordinarily talented musicians. Gracing the stage to sing several familiar songs of his will be special guest and veteran Dés collaborator Vera Tóth, who has demonstrated her talent, musicality and superb voice time and again over the years.
László Dés is the kind of musician who wins both great affection from the audience and accolades from fellow artists and critics alike. This concert is sure to prove, yet again, that this is no coincidence.
