BRIDGING EUROPE 2020 - UNITED KINGDOM

The band Firkin, who formed in 2008, play Irish pub music - otherwise known as jumpin' punk - and are acclaimed all over the world. They have performed more than 600 concerts in 17 countries - from Canada to Ukraine, England and Romania - captivating audiences at the biggest rock and world music festivals, not to mention the Montreux Jazz Fesztival.

Their shows are characterised by a frenzied tempo, limitless energy and an unstoppable party atmosphere, and feature their own compositions alongside covers of classic Irish, Scottish and English songs, all played in the inimitable Firkin style. It's no surprise that the group is often mentioned alongside famous/infamous bands of the genre such as The Pogues, Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys. In addition to their concerts, their records also demonstrate their boundless popularity. They have recorded five albums to date, with Finger in the Pie not only making the charts in England, Germany and the United States, but also claiming a Fonogram prize at the Hungarian Music Awards. Last year - for the Petőfi Acoustic show - Firkin made radio and TV recordings alongside Ági Szalóki and James Karácsony. More than a biographical detail, this fact is also an irresistible promise, as we can now look forward to a Firkin concert at Müpa Budapest featuring four star guests, with Szalóki and Karácsony joined by Attila Szabó and Gergő Baricz. In a word: limitless!
