Crazy about Jazz

The Kossuth Prize-winning painter László Fehér, one of the most significant and distinctive artists in contemporary painting, has been highly capable of captivation from the very start. Immediately we feel that there is something secret, here, that forces us to stop and look, something that is worth deciphering. Perhaps because the spirit of liberty shines through his work. After his photorealistic creations first brought him fame and recognition from a wider audience, Fehér changed and sought out a new path. This has been characteristic of him ever since: he is continually capable of renewal. His bodyless figures, only visible through their outlines and standing outside of space and time, provide opportunities for exciting pictorial associations. They are transparent, in contrast to the objects surrounding them and the natural setting that serves as a background to their contours. Fehér's artistic career has always explored the question of where a person stands in time and space, and how people relate to each other, space and their environment. Fehér has been awarded a range of prizes for his work and has enjoyed several major individual exhibitions both in Hungary and abroad - listing even only the most important would fill several pages. The most recent album of his works, Memory Imprints, was released last year.
In contrast to many artists, László Fehér is more than capable of telling us stories about painting and his own pictures, something our audience for the evening will find out for themselves. They will also learn about his connections to jazz. We can give one clue away now: prior to 1989, Fehér himself used to play jazz music...

Audience members, who will be able to take their seats in the Bohemian Event Venue on a first-come, first-served basis from 6 pm, receive a welcome drink and can enjoy dinner before or after the concert.
