Crazy About Jazz

Ildikó Boldizsár is a fairytale researcher, fairytale therapist, writer and editor, as well as the former professional director for the Fairytale Centre in the Hungarian village of Paloznak. For decades, she has focused on the healing power of stories and the therapeutic possibilities offered by myths and fables. Given that fairytales are born on the lips of the people and develop organically, it is no surprise that Ildikó Boldizsár is enthusiastic about the genre of jazz, which is often referred to as American folk music, and also experiences a near constant process of renewal, taking on new forms thanks to the improvisation of the musicians who play it.

This quality of continual transformation also formed part of the inspiration for the Metamorphoses Fairytale Therapy Method (MFTM), a wisdom-based therapeutic procedure developed by Ildikó Boldizsár. In September 2010, she published the book Fairytale Therapy (Meseterápia), which offers an introduction to the traditions of fairytales and shines light on the experience of the community ritual of storytelling, its historical roots, and the role of folk tales in passing down structures of rules in ancient communities. It also presents a detailed explanation of MFTM, which was created as the culmination of a long period of research. Ildikó Boldizsár has published two dozen books, including her own fairytale books, story collections and other technical books. Her most recent book, Amália álmai - Mesék a világ legszomorúbb boszorkányáról (Amália's Dreams - Tales of the Saddest Witch in the World), was published by Magvető Publishing in November 2021. Ildikó Boldizsár was awarded the Attila József Award in 2006 for her literary achievements. She believes that fairytales are bearers of knowledge blessed by traditions. They not only provide entertainment and courage, but are also capable of relieving both spiritual and physical pain. Perhaps on this evening she will reveal to us whether jazz can also be used as a therapeutic tool.

Audience members, who can take their seats at the Bohemian Event Venue from 6 pm, receive a welcome drink and can enjoy dinner before or after the concert.
