This promises to be an especially exciting evening as Kálmán Balogh, Miklós Lukács, Mihály Borbély, Kornél Horváth and Ági Szalóki have never performed together in this line-up before. In every respect, this event reflects its title as it explores the worldwide success that sprang from the 19th century debut of two musical instruments created here in Budapest and the unique experience of listening to a live performance from such world-renowned musicians. Each of the artists performing brings with them unrivalled knowledge of their instrument and all forms of chamber music. They share an education and understanding of classical, jazz and folk music, and every one of them is a fearless experimenter and innovator, using their creative energy and specific talents to bring motion and improvisation to the performance stage.
For the first part of the concert, the cimbalom duo of Kálmán Balogh and Miklós Lukács will play music from their two albums released to date, while in the first part of the second half Mihály Borbély and Kornél Horváth will play as a duet. Finally, the cimbalom players will be joined by Ági Szalóki in the final half hour of the concert. The latter is noted for her versatility and ability to move between musical genres, and will have some real surprises that she has prepared specially for this occasion in store for the audience.
