On 16 October, Sunday, three stages will again offer music to soothe and elevate the audience of Budapest Ritmo, including music by Mauritania's Mint Seymali, her husband and their band, who are perhaps the greatest headliners of this year's WOMEX. Meridian Brothers, a minimal-Cumbia formation from Columbia, interrupt their French tour for the sake of Budapest Ritmo. The Festival Theatre will be home to a world premiere, with great Hungarian female singers of three different styles sharing the stage for the first time: they are Ági Szalóki, known to everyone, Diana Pandzarisz Samu, an inspired performer of Sephardic Jewish melodies, and Mónika Lakatos, the by now world-famous Vlach Romany singer of Romengo. Amira Medunjanin, the greatest living diva of Sarajevan Sevdah, will sing the most sensuous Balkan chansons of painful love in Festival Theatre. Becaye Aw uses Senegalese and Norwegian melodies and instruments to create an original musical blend. On Sunday, the showcase stage will again present four young bands, selected this time from the Visegrád region and the Balkans.
