The story of this band stretches back to 1958 with the formation of the Economics University Youth Jazz Band. Since 1962 they’ve been known as the Bergendy Group and they slightly expanded the name in 1983 to the one familiar today. Whatever the name, they’ve thrilled audiences with their sophisticated music. Most of the musicians come from a classical music background. For twenty years now, they’ve had just twelve members. The four member rhythm section is made up of keyboards, percussion, bass... guitar and guitar. The four wind players can perform all the available instruments and even the accordion. Besides their male singer, each of the three women vocalists take on solos as well. They perform 20s and 30s dance music, swing, fifties rock and roll, beat and soul, and even rock and disco music, all in arrangements faithful to the original style. They also evoke the relevant era with a bit of appropriate “show biz”. Besides their many performances in Hungary and abroad, they have also been involved in many television shows, film music and music theatre productions. They’ve invited some surprise guests to their show at the Palace of Arts which will trace important moments in their history with unforgettable hits and also video projections.
