Formed in 2002, its members with their decades of musical experience decided to cross boundaries of genre and style to unite their ideas under the name Balkan Fanatic. Georgios Tzortzoglou was the leader of Barbaro and Gépfolklór. It was his idea to unite the electronic music of Gábor (Lepe) Lepés with a bandit attitude and folk music elements. The objective was to popularise the cultures of the Carpathian Basin and the Balkans. On recordings – and they have released three albums – and concerts this electro-ethnic formation are supplemented with a host of other popular performers. The kernel of the group are: Miklós Czifra guitar, Ákos Kottler drums, Zsófia Rebeka Tarján vocals, rap.
