Andi Malek Soulistic Gospel
21 December 2018, Friday
7 pm - 8:45 pm
Müpa Tent
Produced by Müpa Budapest

In the run-up to Christmas, we all need a little bit of a boost. And when it comes to the world of music, what could be better than the uplifting sound of gospel? Soulistic is a shared dream brought to life by Andrea Malek, a singer who has excelled across a wide range of genres, and the pianist and songwriter Bandi Jáger. The basic ingredients comprise a combination of jazz and R&B, fully seasoned with an exciting blend of folk music influences. And now, this special mixture has been used to evoke the wonderful charm of gospel. The name Soulistic refers to the close relationship between souls and music. This special gospel concert to get you in the mood for Christmas could be considered the culmination of this relationship. The true sound of certain Christmas songs - now largely familiar from traipsing round shopping centres - is capable of stirring our souls. Such is the stunning power of gospel, as the viewer or listener is imperceptibly brought along for the ride and gradually becomes part of the performance itself. Andrea Malek and Bandi Jáger's production places joyous music and faith in the starring role, just as they constitute a focal point in all gospel music. With Malek's unmistakeable voice, the musical director's fresh and exciting musical approach and the sound of a superb group of jazz musicians, the evening promises to be a truly wonderful experience. On stage, each of them will have a solo role to play as they endeavour to transmit the message of gospel to the audience.
In those busy days in the run-up to the Christmas season, who wouldn't enjoy an evening listening to songs such as Happy Day, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Let It Snow and Falling In Love With Jesus, helping you to forget all about the hustle and bustle and get in the mood for the festivities ahead?
